Girl’s softball is divided into 3 age groups:
  • Farm League: 3rd and 4th Graders

  • Seniors: 7th and 8tn Graders
All 3 age groups play in the Essex County Women’s Softball League against girls from
other towns including Boxford, Middleton, Georgetown, Ipswich, Groveland, Merrimac,
W. Newbury, Newbury, Rowley and Salisbury.  There are normally 2 games per week,
with home games played on Fridays.   Home games are played at Emerson, Steward, and
Klock fields. Coaches typically hold practices once per week.  Full uniforms are provided
to each player.  Shirts, pants, and socks are returned to the TAA at the end of the season
while caps are kept by the player. Farm and junior leagues play with an 11” softball and
have restricted rules such as no stealing.  Seniors play with a 12” softball and closely follow
high school softball rules. Emphasis is on learning skills and having fun.  Skill development
includes hitting, throwing, catching, fielding, pitching, base running, and game situations.
