The Tri-Town Titans softball program offers girls from Topsfield, Boxford, and Middleton to play in the Middle-Essex summer league. The program is part of the Topsfield Athletic Association. Teams are made up of players from Topsfield, Boxford, and Middleton.
There are five age-based groups:
18U - players must be 18 years or younger on 9/1/2024
14U - players must be 14 years or younger on 9/1/2024
12U - players must be 12 years or younger on 9/1/2024
10U - players must be 10 years or younger on 9/1/2024
8U - players must be 8 years or younger on 9/1/2024
• 8U and 18U team creation is TBD based on the level of interest. Please email me your
daughter’s name and age as of 9/1/2024 if you are interested in either age level.
• The registration fee will be $100 for 10U, 12U, and 14U this summer and WILL NOT include a
jersey. Returning players can wear their jersey from last year or new ones can be purchased at
Sew Forth and be worn for multiple seasons. Players will also need black softball pants, red
socks, and red belt.
● Games begin in late June and the season ends in early August. 10U and 14U games are played
on Mondays and Wednesdays. 12U and 18U games are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Teams typically play 1 home game at Klock Park in Topsfield or Fuller Meadow in Middleton and
1 away game per week. All games start at 6:15pm and coaches will require players to be present
30-60 beforehand. Practices are typically held once each week at the head coach’s discretion.
● Players are expected to miss no more than 4 games over the course of the season for any reason
other than unexpected health or injury issues.
Team Registration and Tryouts:All players need to complete the paid registration within their age group to attend tryouts, which will be
a free, separate registration. Registration for both is available at
https://www.taasports.com• 10U, 12U and 14U eligible players can register for a roster spot in their respective age group
and we will make 1 or more teams that compete at the “B” level in the Middle Essex League.
The first 15 players will be guaranteed a roster spot. The next 9 will be placed on a waiting list
with the hope that we will make 2 teams of at least 12. If there are > 30 registrants then #s 31-
35 will be placed on a waiting list until there are 36 or more total registrants in which case 3
teams – of at least 12 – can be made.
• 12U and 14U aged players have the option of trying out for an “A” level team and need to
complete both paid team/age group registration and tryout registration. Registered players
that tryout and don’t make an “A” team will be placed on a “B” team. Please note that if
talent is not deemed sufficient to make an “A” level team then we may only field one or more
“B” teams at the 12U and/or 14U level.
• Players that are looking to “Play up” an age level must register for a roster spot within their
softball age group and register for/attend a try out for the age group that they are looking to
play up in. It is expected – and understandable - that some 10U eligible players entering 6th grade will
want to play 12U and that some 12U eligible players entering 8th grade will want to play 14U.
These players are encouraged to try out to do but are not guaranteed a roster spot as a level
that is above their current softball age. For example, all players that were 10 years old or
younger as of 9/1/2024 should register for 10U but can try out for 12U. Based on evaluations
they may be placed on a 12U B level team, a 12U A level team, or a 10U team. Similarly, a
player that was 12 or younger as of 9/1/2024 that wants to play 14U needs to register at the
12U level and attend a 14U tryout. She may end up being placed at 14U A, 14U B, 12U A, or 12U B.
Please note: There will be no refunds of registration fees for players that try out
and are not placed on an “A” division team or on a team where they are
“playing up” an age level. There will be two tryout dates for 12U/14U players interested in playing at the “A” level or “playing up”.
Players who want to tryout may attend one or both tryout sessions. All players interested in playing at the “A” level or “playing up” must attend one
of these tryouts.
If your daughter cannot make either tryout due to a conflict with other sporting events, please email me separately at
[email protected] as I may consider a “make-up” tryout date for a small group. This is not guaranteed so please do your best to make at least of the sessions.
Tryout Sessions to be held at Klock Park South:
Session 1 – Sunday 6/1 – 12U: 3:30- 5:00pm, 14U: 5-6:30pm
Session 2 - Saturday 6/7 – 14U: 9:00-10:30am, 12U 10:30-12:00pm
How tryouts work and what to expect:Please have your daughter wear softball pants/cleats, bring a glove, fielder’s mask, batting helmet, bat. Each session lasts for about 90 minutes and players will be graded based on their ability to throw, field, and hit. Upon arrival please have your daughter sign in at the table, get a sticker (which includes a # for evaluations), and start warming up by throwing with a partner.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to ensure adequate time for this.
If you have any questions, please email them to
